Organizers of World Diabetes Day activities discovered 20 new cases of Diabetes after examining more than 217 visitors at the primary health clinic in King Fahd Residential City- National Guard Health Affairs in Dammam, achieving the goal of the event which is the early detection of this disease.
Activities were held to educate people about dangers of diabetes, prevention and methods of treatment, and how to control it and protect future generations. There was a noticeable rise in the rise number of diabetic people compared with statistics taken conducted 80 years ago where diabetics were no more than 5 percent of the population, now they are is up to 24 percent among adults.
Some researchers believe that diabetes a looming danger as its patients are more likely to die than regular people. They have four times the risk of heart attacks, the likeliness of having brain clots double that for other and it is the main cause of vision loss.
