The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a modern laboratory which is staffed by a highly qualified workforce with exceptional skills. The laboratory provides a 24-hour services with quality excellent, and it is also responsible for Point of Care Testing for the whole hospital.

To emphasize excellence in all Laboratory services to achieve and maintain the highest quality for the patients of NGHA by complying with the national (CBAHI) and international standards set by JCI, CAP, AABB, and ISO 15189. To serve our patients in a courteous and caring manner. To be an optimal and trustworthy partner of the NGHA Health Care Team by effectively serving them in a most effective, dependable, and efficient manner. To improve patient care through the advancement of leading laboratory practices in alignment with the latest technology and ensure governance of the laboratory's strategic goals to be consistent with the organization's strategic goals. The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department of Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital will be the leading diagnostic facility nationally and internationally, and provide the most modern and cost-efficient laboratory services to the inpatients of the NGHA and its affiliated institutions, to outpatients within and outside of the Hospital, and to contracting organizations by being reliable referral laboratory of the most advanced laboratory services. We aspire to establish the best training and internship programs across the kingdom by providing an exceptional environment, state-of-the-art tools, and engaging activities for interns and participants, ensuring they gain the highest level of expertise and hands-on experience.
Objectives
All lab technologists and technicians working in LAB-PMBAH should be aware and comply with the laboratory procedures and professional standards of practice without error of clinical significance. This implies the ability to:
Establish the implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System.
Handle specimens according to established laboratory criteria by providing conducive and safe working environment and eliminate clinically significant error in test results.
Ensure that all equipment related to the testing activities are properly maintained and monitored.
Prepare reagents and standards suitable for use in the clinical laboratory.
Interpret and/or confirm test results when appropriate.
Evaluate and verify all methods to ensure the validity and reliability of the method/instrument.
