Department of Adult Mental Health
The Department of Adult Mental Health ensures timely access to services and supports adults' mental health needs, enabling them to live, work, and participate in their communities. The department sets standards for effective care to promote recovery and maintain a better quality of life for patients and their families.
The department sets policies, promotes self-determination, protects human rights, and supports mental health training and research. This mission is accomplished by partnering with agencies, individuals, families, providers, and communities.
The department promotes mental health through excellent clinical care, education, and research. We envision a future where mental health is an integral part of overall health, and mental health care is an essential part of all health care.
Department Capacity
The clinic operates from 8:00–12:00 in the morning and 13:00–16:00 in the afternoon. Each clinic has a predetermined number of new and follow-up patients. Over-booking slots are available for urgent referrals at the consultant’s discretion.
The department covers all patients admitted to medical or surgical wards who need psychological intervention, and the on-call team provides 24/7 coverage for the emergency department.
Support is provided to university students through an assigned clinic on campus, specifically at primary care centers and student wellness clinics.
An employee wellness clinic is open once a week for staff.
The department collaborates with Child and Adolescent and Behavioral Sciences to provide the best care for adolescents.
